Artist overview: FAQ

Your artist overview will be created automatically as soon as your distributor provides your first official release to VK Music. The overview will contain all of your songs, albums and clips, and you can link it to your community and add photos to it.

Artist overview: FAQ, image #1

The artist overview helps listeners learn more about your work. They can open it by using the search in the music section, from your releases or from a community you have linked to your overview.

The Studio artist account is there if you want to link your community or add photos. Keep reading to learn tips on creating a public page, preparing images and organizing your overview.

The following can't be used as artist overview covers:

  1. Covers of albums/singles
  1. Drawn images
  1. Scanned images
  1. Small photos that have been upscaled
  1. Poor quality, fuzzy or blurred images
  1. Photos with logos (including the artist's logos), text or ads
  1. Photos with borders or any other types of decorative elements, collages or images that have been heavily edited or modified
  1. Photos portraying nudity or obscene gestures

  1. Photos containing profanity

If your photos don't meet the requirements (and in some other situations as well), we may ask you to change them.

Artist overview covers can only be placed by VK Administration. This isn't a paid service and is done for free.

Community

A community can be linked to your artist overview in the Studio if the following requirements are met:

  1. The community name matches the name of the band, artist or their stage name.
  1. The owner (creator) of the community is the artist themselves or their official representative.
We can't link artist overviews to communities that belong to third parties. It's important that the community is run by the official representative of the artist. You can read more about transferring community owner rights here: vk.com/wall-59800369_55858 (RU only).
  1. The community creator must have 2-step verification (2FA) enabled.

This helps protect the owner's account, community and its content. You can learn how to enable 2FA here: vk.com/page-59800369_53735144 (RU only).

Communities and artist overviews can only be linked by VK Administration. This isn't a paid service and is done for free.

Recommendations

  • You should regularly update your community so users can keep up with all the latest news about their favorite artist.
  • Make sure to keep links, logos and other mentions of other social networks, messengers and streaming services to an absolute minimum.
  • The community may be unlinked from the artist overview if the above recommendations aren't followed.
